L&A Firearms, LLC was founded in 2008 by friends and fellow gun enthusiasts Russell "Tootie" Abernathy II and Josh Long. The two decided to take their beloved pastime and turn it into a business. L&A Firearms opened in May of 2008. The store, located next to Abernathy's Motorcycle Sales, has been rated Tennessee's third largest dealer in the state. However, this ranking does not include the company's US-wide shipments made through GunBroker.com.

Over the past two years, L&A Firearms has developed a direct working relationship with such companies as Smith & Wesson, SigSauer, Kimber, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, Benelli, DPMS and LWRCI. Recently, L&A Firearms became the nation's LARGEST LWRC dealer.
